Cafe Assistant

Location: Coram’s Fields, 93 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1DN
Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary and Benefits: London Living Wage- £13.15/hour 
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract                                                Annual Leave: 26 days per annum pro rata

Coram’s Fields is a unique community charity for young people in the heart of Bloomsbury, London, with an iconic 7-acre child-friendly park and vibrant Community Cafe. The cafe is friendly and lively, well-respected and well-used by park visitors.  

As Cafe Assistant, you will work as part of a team and on your own, to deliver friendly and efficient service to Café customers, supporting and growing the Cafe income that funds our work with young people. The role will help us trial growth initiatives to extend service to weekend and evening users of the on-site sports-pitches, as well as support the growth of on-site children’s parties, events and programmes. 

 

 

 Responsibilities Include: 

  • Prepare and serve drinks, food, snacks, and ice cream to customer specifications.
  • Build and maintain friendly customer relationships with clear communication.
  • Maintain high-quality food and drink displays and keep the café clean.
  • Remove litter promptly to maintain safety and appearance.
  • Perform daily food hygiene checks and follow allergy and cross-contamination standards.
  • Keep equipment and work surfaces clean during and after service.
  • Work with the team and management to improve café operations.
  • Build relationships with park users and staff to grow café use.
  • Open and close the café, including cash-up and banking.
  • Attend required training, meetings, and follow the charity’s policies.
