Celebrating City Junior School’s Mini Marathon Success and Fundraising for Coram’s Fields

For the second year in a row, Year 3-6 students from City Junior School (CJS) have risen to the challenge of running the TCS Mini London Marathon. We are also celebrating their incredible fundraising efforts, which have reached an impressive £10,000 (inclusive of Gift Aid) towards our charity. At Coram’s Fields, we are committed to providing children with a safe and engaging community space. By working together with City Junior School, we offer children the opportunity to be an integral part of our local community, teaching them about the importance of sports, play, and giving back. Mini Marathon is an annual highlight of our partnership, keeping children and parents talking for months.

Oliver and Ethan, both 9 years old, shared their experiences with the entire school during an assembly after the run:

“I was a bit nervous at first, but my nerves calmed down when I saw my friends and walked to the starting line, proudly wearing our yellow CJS team T-shirts. At the end, you feel exhausted but triumphant. The whole experience, with people cheering you on and Buckingham Palace behind you, was very special. It was a fantastic experience that I truly recommend"

"I loved running in the Mini Marathon. I really like long-distance running and enjoyed racing with my friends and other children. There were so many people there, and everyone was very excited. By the end of the race, I was quite tired and thirsty. We got a big, shiny medal made of recycled zinc and a bottle of water, which I chugged down."

The Impact on Coram’s Fields

Ethan shared, “I really love Coram’s Fields, all of us go there every Monday. We’re proud to have run the Mini Marathon to raise money so they can buy more equipment and provide after-school clubs for so many children.

Oliver added, “Thanks to the support and enthusiasm of the City Junior School community, Coram’s Fields is able to maintain and enhance their facilities, ensuring that thousands of children, young people, and their parents continue to benefit.

Looking Forward

Children from City Junior School are already excited about their participation next year, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to contribute again in such a fun way. Their enthusiasm and dedication are heartwarming examples of how our children are growing up to become conscious citizens with strong community values.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed, driving the City Junior School participation and fundraiser. Special thanks to Alia Bokhary and Grace Maa as well as to our mighty corporate sponsors: Dexters; Goldschmidt & Howland Hampstead Office; Story of Home; and Funland at Brunswick.

These outstanding efforts will allow many more children to access the unique opportunities Coram’s Fields offers for free. We look forward to celebrating more future successes together.
