“With our new offices due to open shortly on the doorstep of Coram’s Fields, I couldn’t think of a more deserving charity, being there for local children and helping the community too. Having recently completed the refurbishment of the Band Hall, it felt great to be part of the walk too and a highlight of the company’s efforts in supporting Coram’s Fields during these difficult times.”
Gary Fleming, Senior Contracts Manager
The integrated refurbishment and maintenance company Sykes & Son have been based in London for 260 years. With new offices opening down the road from Coram’s Fields, the incredible team kindly picked us as their Charity of the Year. They have been going above and beyond with their support of local children and families throughout the year, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Earlier in the year, the team took on a huge pro bono project. Our Band Hall, our largest hall, is used every day by our Out of School Club and is a vital community resource for local groups and organisations. It’s also the home for hundreds of children’s parties each year!
The team at Sykes & Son took on the project for free, saving our charity thousands of pounds. They completely refurbished the entire hall, carrying out essential repairs and decorations. Check out what they got up to:
Wow! ️

More recently, the team completed an epic 50km challenge in the Brecon Beacons. Led by outdoor enthusiast Rob Watkins, the team, Gary Fleming, Tony Adams, Tom Newbury, Kaleigh Devlin, Peter Hensler, Howard Meissenheimer and Jon Burr, conquered the tough route on 19th September.
“Not only is this a well deserving charity but the event was an excellent team building opportunity and great for staff mental wellbeing”
Rob Watkins, QHSE Manager
The day itself was extremely windy, and lots of blisters were gained along the way. The fantastic support the team received from their sponsors and knowing that their efforts would make a huge difference for local children gave them the boost they needed.
“A very physically demanding but rewarding day. I was proud to be part of the Sykes team, doing our bit to help a worthy cause and our soon to be near-neighbours at such a difficult time in the world”
Jon Burr, Bid Manager
The team managed to raise over £6,600 for Coram’s Fields which will provide vital support for local children, young people, and families.
“The whole team here at Coram’s Fields are so grateful to the Sykes & Son team. Their support this year has been second to none. The money raised through their 50km challenge will help ensure local children continue to have a place to call their own, and that we can continue to provide life-changing support for young people, many of whom are at a crisis point”
Stuart Woods, Chief Executive of Coram’s Fields
