It was a beautiful Saturday morning, not only because the sun came out after a chilly spring week, but also because of the buzzing crowd around Charing Cross all the way to the Mall. But this time, the crowd was different. Thousands of children from the youngest to teenagers, dressed in sports gear and followed by their parents and supporters, were getting ready for the run!
For many, it was their first time participating in such a massive event, let alone experiencing what it’s like to be part of the world-famous London Marathon course. As a historic London charity devoted solely to children and young people, it was only natural for Coram’s Fields to be present in this crowd.
A newly opened London School – City Junior, located just a short walk from the school building at Gray’s Inn Place, had secured 60 places for this year’s run. Some of their children use the pitches at Coram’s Fields for their weekly sports classes and enjoy the welcoming and safe environment of the children-only park and playgrounds. It was only natural for them to want to support their neighbouring charity as part of the effort. And that’s how it all came together.
The children’s enthusiasm and dedication to the cause were contagious, and their smiles and laughter echoed through the St James’s Park during the event. It was inspiring to see the community come together in support of such an important cause. We are truly grateful to the parents who put in so much work to make this such a great day.
Coram’s Fields provides a safe and supportive environment for children and young people from all backgrounds to play, learn, and grow. With costs increasing, our community relies heavily on free services and facilities we provide, making every donation count towards creating equal opportunities for children, regardless of their background.
