Community Sports Coach

Location: Coram’s Fields, 93 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1DN

Hours: 25hrs per week, after school hours during term time, daytime hours during school holidays with some flexibility to work outside of these subject to programme requirements. Some weekend work too when required.

Salary: £28,747 per annum (pro rata £20,534)

For 89 years, Coram’s Fields has provided pioneering services for children and young people from birth through to early adulthood, today these services continue to provide invaluable support to the local and wider community. Our Sports Development Programme supports young people aged 3 to 19, providing a safe space with a wide range of engaging sport and physical activities, whilst also ensuring critical development opportunities for all young people, both in a practical context and in terms of their wider personal and social development.

Over the last ten years, we’ve established ourselves as one of the leading sport and physical activity providers of children and young people in Camden, engaging over 1500+ young people per year through our diverse Sports Development Programme, which includes trips, residentials, tournaments, overseas volunteering tours and sports qualifications and accreditations. We pride ourselves on working with those in most need of support and have excellent relationships with local schools, youth services and sporting organisations.

Fundamental to your success in the role will be a high level of enthusiasm for sport and exercise and an unrivalled commitment to the lives of children and young people, supported by an in depth understanding of the multiple challenges faced. Even more crucial, will be your ability to turn this commitment and understanding into high impact services that produce tangible outcomes for those young people that we support.

You’ll be an inspirational sports leader, bringing a creative flair to your work with young people, harnessing the skills of those around you to deliver a truly exceptional sporting provision.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Deliver Sports Sessions
    Teach a range of sports and physical activities to children and young people aged 3–19.

  • Mentor Young People
    Support participants of all abilities, helping them build skills, confidence, and a passion for sport.

  • Lead Football Teams
    Manage Coram’s Fields Football Teams in the Camden Youth League.

  • Coach Targeted Groups
    Deliver inclusive sessions for girls, young women, at-risk youth, and individuals with disabilities.

  • Run School and Community Sessions
    Lead sports activities in schools, community outreach, and after-school/evening programs.

  • Plan and Evaluate Sessions
    Create session plans, take registers, complete evaluations, and track participation data.

  • Promote Health and Participation
    Encourage ongoing involvement in sport to improve fitness, wellbeing, and personal growth.

  • Support Progression and Excellence
    Help participants access clubs, qualifications, and coaching pathways to further their development.

  • Referee and Assist with Events
    Officiate at tournaments and support delivery of sports qualifications.

  • Maintain Safeguarding and CPD
    Follow safeguarding policies and engage in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development.
