Sessional Play Worker- Out of School Club

Location: Coram’s Fields, 93 Guilford Street, London, WC1N 1DN
Hours: 35hrs p/w during school holiday periods
Salary: £14.80 per hour
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract                                                 

Coram’s Fields Out of School Club (OSC) is looking for exceptional
individuals to become part of our dedicated team to help deliver our hugely successful OSC and holiday scheme programmes for young
people aged 4-12 years.

You will be dedicated to changing the lives of young people for the better, have a strong understanding of the multiple needs of the age group in question and will complement this with an ability to nurture development through a truly inclusive, creative and positive approach to engagement.

The role itself will be incredibly varied, providing opportunities to experience all aspects of the programmes’ work from initial planning to implementation and reviewing of the services that we offer. You will be required to work with young people from across the age and ability spectrum and will need to have the skills to adapt quickly and effectively in this fast paced environment.

Coram’s Fields has been a flagship provider of services for young people for over 80 years and our OSC is just one in a host of services delivered from our seven acre site in heart of Central London.

Personal Development and Training
1. To attend regular supervision and appraisal sessions.
2. To undertake training and development opportunities as agreed with the line manager
3. To undertake any task that may be requested from time to time, as may be consistent with the nature and scope of this post

 

 

 Responsibilities Include: 

1. To contribute to the effective running of Coram’s Fields OSC and Holiday schemes by providing high quality, needs led support to young people aged 4-12 years

2. To work with other members of the staff team to plan, develop and deliver all aspects of Coram’s Fields OSC and Holiday Scheme provision

3. To promote the well-being of the young people attending the provision and ensure all needs are recognised, planned for and met

4. To promote an inclusive environment for all through the delivery of an engaging and accessible programme of activities that encourages social integration and the development of positive relationships amongst all young people

5. To be part of a team responsible for transporting young people from a number of local primary schools to Coram’s Fields (OSC) and for facilitating off site trips (as part of Holiday Schemes)

6. To provide occasional one to one mentoring to young people requiring additional support

7. To work independently and collectively to proactively address negative behaviour, creating positive short and long term solutions for those involved

8. To provide a secure and stimulating environment that delivers high standards of care through a variety of play and educational opportunities

9. To liaise with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress and to work with them to ensure that their personal, social, educational and emotional needs are met

10. To attend briefing meetings and contribute to regular evaluations of the impact and success of the programmes, and to apply lessons learnt to future planning of services

11. To creatively involve young people in the planning and development of activities

12. To be responsible for preparing rooms for activities and ensuring that they are left as found at the end of sessions

13. To ensure that children are effectively supervised at all times

14. To maintain up to date records of personal information for all young people accessing the programme

15. Administer medication where necessary (subject to appropriate training and support)

16. To embrace the responsibility of being a positive role model for young people

17. To be responsible for the effective implementation of Coram’s Fields Safeguarding policy and practice

18. To liaise with external agencies as appropriate.
