On Saturday 28th June, Coram’s Fields was taken over by life-size puppet animals, as THE HERDS came to visit!
The public art and climate initiative took a detour from their 20,000km journey from the Congo to the Arctic Circle to greet around 1,000 children and families at our park.
The likes of elephants and zebras wandering among the trees, interacting with children as they went. A monkey even tried to steal someone’s picnic! THE HERDS team accompanied this with a fantastic talk where they spoke about the climate crisis, endangered species, and how arts and science can make change happen.
Our young visitors were also given the chance to create their own puppet animals during free sessions on puppet making and puppetry. This culminated in the children racing around the lawn holding their handmade puppet birds! For the birds who picked up an injury or two, an animal hospital was on site to fix them up.
It was an exciting and busy day at Coram’s Fields! A big thank you to THE HERDS for visiting our green haven and saying hello to families from across London and beyond!
