Reopening Success for Under-5s Drop In

After eighteen months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, local families have leapt at the chance to visit our newly reopened Under-5s Drop In service. Equipped with books, toys, soft-play equipment and an outdoor sand and water play area, the Under-5s Drop In is a hugely valuable resource for local children. The service provides a fun and safe environment for parents to spend quality time with their young ones. Moreover, after months of Covid-19 restrictions, it offers young children the much needed space to play and socialise with one another.

Our dedicated early years practitioner, Kathy, has been thrilled with the reopening of the service:

“It’s so good to be back in the Drop In! It’s such a lovely setting in the park for children to play, read stories and get artistic. Come and get stuck in with your young one!”

The Drop In service has also played a central part of our support for families welcomed to Camden following the crisis in Afghanistan. Assisted by other community partners like the Camden Early Years team and Hopscotch Women’s Centre, we have been providing weekly targeted sessions for families from Afghanistan. Receiving an overwhelmingly positive response, these sessions have helped provide an enriching environment for children and families to come together through play. Find out more about our support for Camden’s Afghan community.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for their continued support of the Under-5s Drop In. Their financial backing has helped the service bounce back from its long period of closure better than ever and to enable our ongoing work with families from Afghanistan.

Visit our Under-5s Drop In on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Entry is free but any donations are hugely welcome and will go towards funding all our services for local children, including the Drop In service. For more information, please visit our Under-5s page or contact our Head of Early Years Carole on 020 7833 0198 or carole@coramsfields.org.uk.
