It was an incredible day at Coram’s Fields on Monday, September 9th, as we welcomed the remarkable Team GB Paralympians fresh from their victory in Paris! Our children and young people had an absolute blast meeting their heroes and engaging in exciting sports activities with them, all thanks to our dedicated Sports Development team.
We were joined by five Paralympian gold medal winners, who not only shared their exciting Olympics experiences with the children but also participated with them in various activities such as javelin, shot put, and archery, all themed around our amazing Paralympians.
"My favourite was archery; it was so COOL! I also got to hold the gold medal - I didn't know it was that heavy! It has the Eiffel Tower on it"

As a children’s charity, we are extremely proud of the opportunities we can offer the children in our community. Our Sports Development Programme a free service to the community, believes in access to sport, movement and fun for all. This event truly highlighted that anything is possible for our young ones and gave them a chance to meet their sporting heroes.
“It was an amazing experience for our young people; you could really see how excited and inspired they all were. Representation in sports is incredibly important, so for our young people to have the opportunity to not only meet these athletes but also see their Olympic medals and hear about all they have achieved is something they will never forget, especially the children with similar disabilities.”
Olivia Galloway - Our Sports Development Officer
We would like to extend a massive thanks to the Paralympians who attended the event and inspired our children: Dan Pembroke, Sabrina Fortune, Amy Truesdale, Dimitri Coutya, Matt Bush, and Jody Cundy. We are also grateful to Dame Katherine Grainger, the chair of UK Sport, Dave Clarke, the CEO of Paralympics GB, and the Mayor of Camden for their attendance.
It was a privilege to work alongside the fantastic charity Street Games. We would like to express our gratitude to them, and to Run Communications for giving us the opportunity to host.
